Chief Operating Officer

Wykeham is a commercial strategy consultancy for mid-market private equity investors and companies. We work on the decisions that matter most: what to acquire, where to grow, and whether a competitive position holds. Our focus is the chokepoints in the AI buildout, across telecommunications and digital infrastructure, mission-critical B2B enterprise software and industrial technology.

Our model is senior-led. Named Partners lead every engagement, supported by specialists chosen for direct experience of the problem.

Wykeham’s founder, Christopher Redding, brings twenty years across commercial strategy, capital formation, intellectual property licensing economics and business building, and has founded or led five ventures.

You will lead Wykeham’s operations, reporting directly to the Founder & CEO, and run the systems, processes and people that let Partners win and deliver work efficiently. The role is fractional, with the opportunity to expand as the firm meets its growth milestones.

• Run contracts, engagement setup, onboarding and administration
• Manage billing, collections, Partner payments and finance administration, with our outside accountant
• Build and manage our pool of Domain Specialists
• Manage vendors, IT, platforms and marketing support
• Run conflict checks and keep accurate records
• Track the economics of each engagement

• 7+ years of experience, including running operations, finance and contracts at a commercial strategy or management consultancy
• Strong financial discipline across billing, collections, reporting and project economics
• The ability to build reliable systems without unnecessary bureaucracy
• Willingness and ability to integrate AI across your work, at a minimum through practical, everyday use
• Sound judgment, discretion and clear communication
• Willingness to share an approved public profile
• Legally able to provide these services in the US or the UK

This is a fractional, independent role, with the opportunity to grow into a full-time position as the firm meets its growth milestones. Your availability and workload are agreed upfront. The role does not include client delivery. We work remotely, potentially moving to a hybrid model in the future.
